i have a border collie i understand that they are very excitable dogs but i was wondering if anyone knows any herbal remedies that i can give him to calm him down a bit with any drowsiness
as for the response, he goes for walks and runs and plays but still very excitable
They have all sorts of herbal remidies at petstores and things to calm your dog down. There are shampoos, scents, sprays, etc.
Here’s a highly reccommended one from my vet:

(Talk to your vet first to make sure you should be using anything on your dog!)
The BEST thing to do is walk your dog everyday to calm him down. Walk him for at least an hour, twice a day to help tire him out. Try taking him to a dog park, dog beach, or dog pool. Border Collies need lots of excersise. Try getting interactive toys. Play tug. Blow non-toxic bubbles. Chase him. Roll balls. Play him and tire him out… that will calm him more than anything.
Also, while he may run and walk every day…. he needs mental stimulation. Interact with him. He needs to play with you and other dogs. Spend time training him and playing with him.
My dog is a Westie (West highland white terrier). it is commen for his breed to get allergies that affect his skin. The vet gave us some medicine but it only works up to an point and then get worse. He has his allergies on his lip and it causes cuts and dryness on it. He is in healthy condition although i was wondering how to get the cuts and dryness away to make his lip much more cleaner for him.
Allergies can’t be cured they can only be managed and as you have said Westie’s are prone to skin problems which can be awful.
I would first find out what is causing the allergic reaction (your vet can test for this) as you need to know what is causing the problem in order to deal with it appropriately.
It may be diet related or environmental or malassezia (a yeast like over growth in your dogs skin). Whatever it is you need to know this first in order to treat it properly. It could be a change of diet, meds, antihistamines, shampoos or a combination.
Hi i am allergic to cats and i wanted to know if anyone knew of anyway to cure cats allergy’s . maybe in the future ?
Thank you all for the information i will be sure to try out clarinex. Have a great day and an even better summer !!!
Yes Clarinex works great for allergies, I myself take it. I’ve also heard about shots you can take that have worked pretty well. You get them like once or month or something and you can basically snuggle with a cat and be okay. A friend of mine took them for about 2 years and she had dogs, cats, rabbits the works. If your interested I would ask your allergist. Other than I would try Clarinex.

The show also has the support of terrific associations such as Coeliac Society, Dietitians Association of Australia, Eczema Association of Australasia and Food Standards Australia.
The event will attract thousands of people over a two day period. During the event consumers will be able to gain valuable information, attend free seminars with expert speakers, try and buy Gluten Free and Allergy Friendly products. For many Australians affected by allergies, asthma and food intolerances, finding the right source of information to improve their quality of life is not easy. This event will bring together up to 100 exhibitors showcasing everything from Gluten-Free Cakes, Allergy Remedies to Allergy Friendly Products and face to face contact with various Allergy associations.

ADHD natural remedy – Herbal remedy for ADHD – ADHD natural treatment
Over the years many attempts have been made to find natural therapies for ADHD in order to avoid the use of stimulants such as Ritalin. Very little research has been done in this area since the medical profession has focused their attention almost exclusively on the use of stimulant drugs. It does seem probable that some nutrients or herbal remedies could eventually be found to be helpful. Some herbal remedies used in ADHD include ginkgo biloba and St. John’s wort. Here’s a research abstract on ADHD herbal remedy.
Effect of the herbal extract combination Panax quinquefolium and Ginkgo biloba on attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder: a pilot study.
J Psychiatry Neurosci. 2001 May;26(3):221-8. Oceanside Functional Medicine Research Institute, Nanaimo, BC.
A combination herbal product containing American ginseng extract, Panax quinquefolium, (200 mg) and Ginkgo biloba extract (50 mg) (AD-FX; CV Technologies, Edmonton, Alta.) was tested for its ability to improve the symptoms of ADHD. AD-FX capsules were taken twice a day on an empty stomach for 4 weeks. Patients were instructed not to change any other medications during the study. After 2 weeks of the ADHD herbal remedy treatment, the proportion of the subjects exhibiting improvement ranged from 31% for the anxious-shy attribute to 67% for the psychosomatic attribute. After 4 weeks of treatment, the proportion of subjects exhibiting improvement ranged from 44% for the social problems attribute to 74% for the Conners’ ADHD index and the DSM-IV hyperactive-impulsive attribute. Five (14%) of 36 subjects reported adverse events, only 2 of which were considered related to the study medication. These preliminary results suggest AD-FX treatment may improve symptoms of ADHD and should encourage further research on the use of ginseng and Ginkgo biloba extracts to treat ADHD symptoms.
Comments: It may be preferable at first to just try one herb for a few weeks before adding another one. The combination of herbal remedy with pharmaceutical medication may be unpredictable. We suggest using the herbal remedy by itself, not in combination with ADHD drugs.
